Minimum PC/Workstation Requirements for all Courseware and Services • Pentium 500MHZ or higher • 128MB RAM • Windows 2000, XP, 2003 • Minimum 800x600 screen resolution with minimum 256 colors • Minimum 56K modem connection; broadband (256 kbps or higher) connection recommended • Sound card with speaker or headphones strongly recommended Browser Requirements • Internet Explorer 5.5 or higher. Because it launches in a pop-up window, pop-up blocking software must be disabled. • Windows Media Player 9.0 or higher • Javascript, DHTML and cookies must be enabled o Sign-On sets a Student ID cookie and several session cookies. Student preferences, including simulation preferences, are stored in persistent cookies. o Cookies are required for answering course questions and tracking student progress o Cookies (excluding preferences) are deleted each time the browser is closed • Macromedia Flash Player 8.0. Most Internet Explorer (IE) 5.5 and above browsers already have Flash installed for general web browsing - Allows for animation, simulations, and audio without significantly enlarging footprint. If Flash is not installed or is less than version 8, there is a one-step, one-time download directly from the Macromedia Web site – a dialog box will inform the student of a download or upgrade requirement. (Note: We do not recommend or support installation of the Yahoo toolbar included in the Flash download from the Macromedia site.). Estimated download time of 1 minute with 56K modem • Netscape, Firefox, MAC and AOL browsers are not supported. Added Information • An average of 8MB per course for HTML courses (varies by course type) • An average of 30MB per course for Business Skills video courses (each 20 minute course requires about 50MB) • 15 MB hard disk space required for system files • Installation time will vary based on your connection speed, network traffic, and other factors • You must remain connected to the Internet for the duration of the installation process • Personal Web Server (PWS) must be turned off to view downloaded courses Additional Workstation System Requirements for TechLabs • Java enabled • Java Virtual Machine (JVM) • Adobe Acrobat Reader (for Lab Manuals)
